The use of blogs in education

Together with other types of new technology, blogs can also be used in our daily routine in the classroom as a tool to inspire and motivate students, especially those lacking motivation.

Which are the benefits of class blogging?

·    Blogging provides an authentic educational experience, where what they write is not only seen and commented on by their teacher, but by their peers and the “public.”

·   There is an authentic audience – a global audience – one that is willing to connect, share, challenge, discuss and communicate with classes. This audience can provide further information, opinions, suggest resources  and seek answers to questions and so on.

·     The blogging experience forces the students to do more reflection on their learning.

My First English Blog :  The blog itself

My First English Blog is created by the teacher for a group of learners. Although it is mainly the teacher who is going to take charge of it, students will also contribute to it with their entries, comments, etc.

My First English Blog : Content and purpose

This English blog is going to be used...:

• by the teacher to provide students with a way to access assignments, homework, resources and information about their class online.
• by students to share their work,  class news and information with peers, parents, family and the audience.
• For global collaboration and authentic audience.

My First English Blog : Activities

In the blog, students will find activities to develop their skills on comprehension and production. As they will also have to post their productions, effort and motivation are guaranteed.
